BAM Ritchies fires its biggest quarry blast in Norway
The geotechnical experts of BAM Ritchies went to Bremanger Quarry to carry out the biggest blast in the history of the company and Norwegian quarrying.
Using 68 tonnes of explosives along a 385-metre length of rockface, the explosion produced 360,205 tonnes of rock on the ground.
Ian Christie, drill and blast manager for BAM Ritchies said: ‘This is what we do, we are drilling and blasting contractors. Saying that, this job was a bit bigger than usual. It took a month to prepare for the blast, but this is a career with a huge amount of job satisfaction.’
