Ian Fleming becomes Regional Director of BAM Construction North West

Hemel Hempstead, 6 April 2017 - One of the UK’s largest construction groups – BAM Construct UK – has appointed Ian Fleming as the regional director of its Salford-based North West Construction business. Mr Fleming was previously one of BAM’s construction directors and his promotion follows 17 years with the company, which operates from premises that it designed, developed, built and runs, at its Metro offices in Exchange Quays, Salford.

‘We’re known for our signature buildings – Manchester City’s Football Academy, No 1 Angel Square, Liverpool’s Walker Art Gallery and Mann Island, and the National Graphene Institute for example. It can overshadow the quality of our 35 universities, many schools, and our health and refurbishment work. Currently we’re working schemes such as Crewe UTC and the North West Construction Hub’s Great Sankey leisure project in Warrington’, says Ian. ‘We’re reputable and the market knows this, we retain our people against tough conditions, and the quality of our work brings great credibility.’

Ian Fleming takes over the youngest of BAM’s seven regional construction businesses, but already he can boast a client list including BAE Systems, Unilever, Aintree Hospital, as well as Allied London for whom BAM is creating One Spinningfields.

‘We’ve recently finished Media City UTC, just up the road from our offices, and an industrial scheme called the Materials Innovation Factory for Liverpool University. Our expertise and adaptability means we’re able to build in many sectors and at many scales. And our clients come back to us which in itself is revealing. I believe the North West Construction Hub can also play a big part for many clients who want to look at how they procure schemes in this area. Such frameworks are a critical part of the regional economy and they bring added social value. They can also serve the Northern Powerhouse.’

BAM’s current schemes also include a new neo-natal suite for Glan Clwyd Hospital in North Wales, and work is starting on site later this year at the Engineering Innovation Centre for the University of Central Lancaster.
