School plans on show at Brecon Town Library throughout August

(Press release Powys County Council:) Powys, 1 July 2017 - Plans for the new Brecon High School can now be seen at the town’s library following a special drop-in evening last week.

The plans will be available to view at Brecon Town Library until the end of August 2017 as part of the project’s pre-planning application process.

Paper forms will be available from the library for anyone who would like to comment on the proposed plans for the £22 million replacement school. Comments can also be made online at www.asbriplanning.co.uk/statutory-pre-application-consultation/brecon-high-school/

Dozens of people chatted with the contractors BAM, the schools’ head-teacher and council officers at last week’s event at the high school with a lot of very positive comments received.

Cllr. Myfanwy Alexander is Cabinet Member for Schools and she commented: ‘I hope as many people as possible will take this opportunity to take a look at these exciting plans which will transform the environment in which young people in Brecon will learn in the future.’

The project will see the existing secondary school replaced with new school buildings, fit to meet the demands of education in the 21st century BAM has extensive experience in the design and construction of a range of public buildings in Wales and across the United Kingdom, bringing together the demands of function with aesthetic appeal.

The Outline Business Case for the construction of the new 11-18 school in Brecon, to replace the current School buildings was approved last autumn as part of the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools and Education Programme.
