Edmund Nuttall Ltd has acquired East Anglian civil engineering contractor John Martin Construction Ltd through a rescue agreement with the latter’s creditors.
John Martin Construction, based at Shipdham, near Norwich, has an annual turnover of around £10 million and has 120 employees. The company will operate as a subsidiary of Nuttall, as part of its Eastern Area Business Unit.
Established 33 years ago, John Martin Construction has built up a considerable reputation for its civil engineering activities, particularly in coastal defence and harbour works – the latter supported by its innovative, patented ‘Limpet’ system of cofferdams.
The acquisition represents an addition to Nuttall’s extensive regional civil engineering business already established throughout the UK.
Edmund Nuttall Ltd is an operating company of the European construction group HBG, Hollandsche Beton Groep nv.
