When Ritchies received a telephone call from the BBC asking if they could do a bit of spray concreting they didn't bat an eyelid. The conversation continued 'We would like to construct a concrete igloo in a back garden and wondered whether you might be able to help.'
Without even a pause for thought Ritchies despatched a team from Merseyside. After assessing the job and modifying the design the intrepid team not only constructed the original igloo but also went on to produce two concrete tunnels and a pond shaped like a Roman amphitheatre using in all 17 tonnes of white concrete. This was all meant for the programme Home Front in the Garden and the creations reflect the thoughts of designer Diarmuid Gavin. The transmission is scheduled for January 2002.
