Schiedam, The Netherlands – Oil company Clyde Petroleum Exploratie bv, based in The Hague, has awarded HBG Steel Structures a contract to construct an offshore gas production platform. The contract value is €15 million.

Rijswijk, the Netherlands – HBG, Hollandsche Beton Groep nv, is to acquire the one-third interest of Ballast Nedam nv in the jointly owned dredging company Ballast Ham Dredging following Ballast Nedam’s intention to exercise its put option.

At the end of this month, Palmetto Bridge Constructors will start pouring the concrete base for the first pier of the Cooper River Bridge in Charleston, South Carolina. Construction of the pier will commence immediately after that.

Wayss & Freytag Schlüsselfertigbau is currently working on the renovation of more than a thousand flats in Nuremberg. The majority of these homes, in the St. Johannis District, were built between 1926 and 1932.

HBG Utiliteitsbouw and Ballast Nedam Bouw have started work at Schiphol Airport on the extension of the South Lounge – departures and arrivals concourse – as well as the construction of a baggage basement. This is the first part of a major order worth around €40 million.

Frankfurt is not short of tall buildings, but there’s always room for one more. Müller-Altvatter starts work this month on the construction of the Skyper Project. An office block towering over 150 metres is to be built immediately behind one of the city’s listed buildings. The tower will have 42 floors, including basement parking on three levels. For those not keen on stairs there will be seven lifts, three of them serving the parking garage.

Interbeton succeeded in acquiring a new contract in Ghana. The contract is a design-and-construct type and consists of the extension quay 2 at Tema Port with 200 meters.

Edmund Nuttall Ltd has been awarded a contract valued at £81 million to carry out strengthening and upgrading work on the Tinsley Viaduct in Sheffield. The scheme, which was awarded by the Highways Agency will allow the viaduct to be restored to three lanes in each direction.
