Flatiron’s Southern California subsidiary, FCI Constructors, has been awarded two projects. One to improve portions of Route 15 in San Diego, and another to construct a new roadway for the University of California-Irvine.

BAM’s German operating company, Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau, has started drilling work on the almost ten-kilometre-long SMART Tunnel in Kuala Lumpur. SMART stands for ‘Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel’ and is set to fulfil a double function.

The end of the North Galaxy Office Project in the centre of Brussels is in sight. Integrated into a single project, BAM’s Belgian operating company Interbuild is constructing two 107-metre-high office towers with a total floor area of 105,000 m2 divided across thirty storeys.

Ascon Ltd – the Irish operating company of Royal BAM Group – was awarded the Design Build and Operate contract for the Dungarvan wastewater treatment plant at the southern shore of Ireland.

BAM Leidingen & Industrie and Tebodin, Consultants & Engineers, have jointly been awarded a contract for the design, procurement and installation of a cooling-water system for the expansion of the high-efficiency waste incineration plant AVI-West in Amsterdam. The contract value amounts to approximately € 10 million.

Ongoing safety improvement – that is the watchword of the Royal BAM Group’s operating companies, and it is something that Urenco Nederland feels strongly about, too. Urenco Nederland enriches uranium for use as fuel in nuclear power stations. BAM Utiliteitsbouw took the hint when Urenco suggested that builders needed to come up with an effective solution for guarding against the risk of impalement on protruding reinforcing bar.

Bunnik, Netherlands, 10 June 2004 – Nuttall, the Royal BAM Group civil engineering subsidiary in the UK, has secured an order for building a new 7.7-kilometre bypass (A421 Great Barford Bypass) as well as upgrading another section of road, also 7.7 kilometres long (A428 Caxton Common – Hardwick).
