European Commission fines BAM companies in bitumen sector

Bunnik, Netherlands, 13 September 2006 – The European Commission has announced that it is imposing a fine totalling € 20.7 million on BAM companies for distortion of competition on the bitumen market in the Netherlands. The alleged infringement relates to the period up to mid-April 2002.

The BAM companies involved are considering lodging an appeal against the fine, for which an extraordinary charge was already taken in 2003. The fine has no impact on the profit forecast for 2006 announced by Royal BAM Group last week.
