(Press release Tebodin:) The Hague, 10 September 2008 – Tebodin Consultants & Engineers has won the contract for the design (consultancy services and detail engineering) of the Ras Laffan Emergency & Safety College in Quatar. This will be the world's largest training center for fire fighting and rescue teams. The project is an initiative of Qatar Petroleum (QP), the largest oil and gas operator in Qatar. Tebodin's offices in Abu Dhabi, Qatar and India (Tebodin Middle East) were awarded the contract jointly by SEG (Société d'Entreprise & de Gestion) and Blackcat Qatar who will carry out the construction of the training center. The project provides Tebodin with approximately 80 man-years of work.

9 September 2008

German transport minister Wolfgang Tiefensee recently set two tunnel boring machines in motion at the same time to start work on building the Finne Tunnel. Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau is a joint venture partner in the construction of the seven-kilometre rail tunnel, which will form part of a new rail link between Erfurt and Leipzig in eastern Germany.

Colindale, London, 5 September 2008 - HBG Construction has been successful in securing a project to create the new Severn Trent Centre in Coventry. The development will create the new headquarters for Severn Trent from mid 2010. The project, worth £40 million, was won in competition in a single stage design and construct tender. The two-year programme starts now and will provide Severn Trent with 16,000 m2 of high quality office space for their 1,700 employees. The project will achieve a BREEAM 'excellent' rating.

At the Natural History Museum in London, the second phase of the Darwin Centre has been unveiled. HBG Construction built the shiny white concrete cocoon, that  will be home to six million plant specimens and 28 million insects, including a four hundred million year old fossil insect.

(Press release HBG Construction:) Colindale, London, 4 September 2008 - HBG Construction has been appointed by Sheffield University as its preferred bidder for the first phase of refurbishing the Grade II listed Arts Tower. The value of the first and second phase contract is approximately £15 million.

Bunnik, The Netherlands, 29 August 2008 - Royal BAM Group nv is selling Fort Unitbouw, which is located in Raamsdonksveer, to the Jan Snel Group in Montfoort. Fort Unitbouw produces, sells and lets semi-permanent units, which are used for temporary accommodation by health and education services, for instance, as well as on construction sites. Fort Unitbouw employs around a hundred people.

Bunnik, Netherlands, 19 August 2008 - HBG has been awarded a £47.5 million contract to build a new college campus in Watford for West Herts College, consolidating the current two campuses in the town into one.

Bunnik, Netherlands, 24 June 2008 – Royal BAM Group nv has developed a calculation model that construction companies can use to determine their CO₂ emissions. The calculation model also takes account of the CO₂ emissions by construction partners and suppliers. It also provides insights into the CO₂ emissions of the products delivered once they are actually being used. BAM believes it is essential that the construction sector has a picture of its own carbon footprint if it is to be able to work effectively and efficiently at reducing CO₂ emissions.

Bunnik, Netherlands, 25 June 2008 - Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau and Galère - both operating companies of Royal BAM Group nv - have been awarded a joint-venture contract for the construction of the Stafelter road tunnel in Luxembourg. The project value amounts to €88 million, of which 75 percent for BAM. Client is the ministry of Public Works. The construction period will be 48 months.

Bunnik, Netherlands, 30 May 2008 - BAM Rail (the subsidiary of Royal BAM Group specialised in rail-related services) has been granted a contract from Siemens as a subcontractor for the construction of a tram line in Edinburgh, the United Kingdom. The contract includes the construction of nine kilometres of double-track tram line in the centre of Edinburgh as well as ten kilometres in the direction of the suburbs and the airport to the west of the Scottish capital. The total building costs amount to approximately € 40 million.

The Netherlands is the land of dikes and cyclists. Cyclists usually have access to dedicated cycle paths, but there is no room for such paths on this narrow dike. However, their needs have been catered for in the form of bicycle lanes in a different colour.

(Press release Government Buildings Agency:) The Hague, 23 May 2008 - The Government Buildings Agency (GBA) has reached an agreement with the JuBi building consortium (made up of BAM, Ballast Nedam, Homij and Imtech) regarding the construction of the new headquarters for the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. Together, the new ministry headquarters will be the largest government building in the Netherlands, with a total of 124,696 m2, not including commercial and technical areas.

Bunnik, Netherlands, 7 May 2008 - Three operating companies of Royal BAM Group, namely CEI-De Meyer, Galère and Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau, have won a contract in joint venture with Jan De Nul and Franki Geotechnics for the construction of the Schuman-Josaphat rail link in Brussels.

Bunnik, Netherlands, 9 April 2008 - Edmund Nuttall Ltd - the British civil engineering specialist of Royal BAM Group nv - has been awarded a contract valued at more than €50 million (£41 million) by Donarbon Waste Management Ltd to design and construct a 'state of the art' Mechanical, Biological Treatment (MBT) Waste plant at its Waterbeach site, Cambridgeshire.

Delft Technical University and BAM won the Intertraffic Innovation Award 2008 with their Fine Dust Removal System. The awards were presented to the winners by Wim Kuijken, the Dutch Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management.

Bunnik, Netherlands, 3 April 2008 – Interbeton bv – the operating company of Royal BAM Group nv, active outside Europe – has been awarded a joint venture to construct the LNG jetty berth for the Woodside Pluto LNG Project near Karratha on the Australian west coast. The contract amounts to approximately € 120 million, of which Interbeton’s share is half.
