Cork, 26 October 2012 - City Gate Park, with 300,000 square feet of business and retail buildings at Cork’s Mahon constructed by BAM Contractors, has officially opened for business. This week saw the official opening by Taoiseach Enda Kenny of the Dell/Quest building, with 180 employees relocating to the stunning location. With €50 million spent to shell and core level, City Gate Park is designed to attract top level corporate firms. The hub has scope for over 1,500 jobs in buildings with ‘green’ energy credentials including 36% energy savings.

Hemel Hempstead, 18 October 2012 - BAM Construct UK Ltd has appointed Andrew Pryke as the new Managing Director of its design business. Mr Pryke joins BAM from Capita Symonds where he was an architecture board member and oversaw the work of 275 staff in ten UK studios.

Hemel Hempstead, 16 October 2012 - BAM Construction is to use a hyper-local template for a £4.6 million free school building project in north London. The contractor will deliver the Kingfisher Hall primary school and nursery in Enfield Highway. Project manager Leo Amatino lives in Enfield, and aims to use as many suppliers, subcontractors and apprentices from the area as possible. The project architect, ACP, is also based in the town.

Hemel Hempstead, 8 October 2012 - BAM Construct UK is to build a £40 million extension to Morriston Hospital in Swansea. The contractor, which has offices in Cardiff, will deliver the 13,000 sq m new building for Abertawe Bro Mogannwg University Health Board. The three-storey extension will house renal dialysis, dental and x-ray departments among others, as well as housing an education centre to train Health Board staff including their post and undergraduate doctors.

Hemel Hempstead, 3 October 2012 - BAM will build a free school after its appointment by Boulevard Academy. BAM Construct UK has been chosen to build an £8 million free school on the site of the former Hull FC rugby stadium. The contractor will deliver the facility for the Boulevard Academy at the site on Airlie Street in the East Yorkshire city.

Hemel Hempstead, 21 September 2012 - Work to improve the route of the Olympic torch has helped the local builders behind the renovation of the Derby Civic Offices gain national recognition for improving the image of the construction industry. BAM Construction, which has offices in Derby, scored within the top 7.5 per cent of all construction projects in the UK for its civic offices scheme in an assessment by the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS). BAM scored 4.5 out of 5 in seven of the eight categories – and 5 out of 5 for being a good neighbour – giving it an overall mark of 36.5 out of 40.

Bunnik, The Netherlands, 18 September 2012 - Rijkswaterstaat (the Directorate General for Public Works and Water Management) has designated the BAM PPP and pension fund service provider PGGM joint venture as preferred bidder for widening the N33 road between Assen and Zuidbroek. The value of the contract for the design, construction, financing and twenty-year maintenance of the road is approximately €120 million. The work will start in 2013 and be completed in the spring of 2015. Approximately half of the required project budget is contributed by the provinces Groningen and Drenthe and the municipalities Assen, Aa en Hunze, Veendam and Menterwolde.

The late 18th century building, which was formerly occupied by GAP, has been upgraded into a premium retail development with large open plan contemporary floorplates.

Dover, 4 September 2012 - BAM Construction is to deliver a £25 million expansion of a co-educational boarding school in Kent.The contractor will refurbish Grade II listed buildings at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School in Dover, as well as providing several new buildings.The school became an ‘Academy with Military Traditions’ in September 2010, and is now open to the children of both serving and non-serving parents.

Hemel Hempstead, 28 August 2012 - The facilities management business behind dozens of schools, hospitals, police stations, offices and leisure facilities in the UK has achieved a remarkable health and safety distinction. BAM FM, part of BAM Construct UK, has been awarded a gold medal from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in its Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2012. The gold medal for preventing accidents and ill health is achieved only after reaching gold status for five successive years and reflects sustained achievement and is placed above the merit, bronze, silver and gold levels.

(Press release European Patent Office:) Rijswijk, 10 August 2012 - The EPO took a major step forward in the tender procedure for the design and construction of its new ‘Main Building’ in Rijswijk (The Hague) when its jury met recently to select the three bids which will enter the second stage of this procedure. The jury is composed of the EPO President, four of its vice-presidents, the Chairman of the Administrative Council, the Chairman of the Local Staff Committee, the acting Mayor of Rijswijk and two architects as external experts.
