Completion container terminal Monrovia

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 15 May 2013 - The president of the Republic of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, will officially open the APM Terminals facility, built by BAM, on 22 May 2013. BAM International completed the 600-metre quay wall in the capital city Monrovia for APM Terminals two weeks ahead of the contractual completion date.

Hemel Hemstead, 10 May 2013 - A year-long project to teach students about architecture and construction has given one year 9 pupil from Blackley in Manchester the opportunity to design and build a new outdoor teaching and break out area at their school. The Co-operative and BAM Construction launched the project last year with SCAPE, a teacher/architect team, as part of its community commitment and support for education following completion of The Co-operative’s brand new head office at 1 Angel Square in Manchester.

Morriston Hospital

Hemel Hempstead, 7 May 2013 - BAM Construct has won a £16 million project to build an office block at Morriston Hospital in Swansea. The contractor, which has offices in Cardiff, will build the 4,500 sq m administration office block through the Designed For Life Welsh health framework. It will take the total value of BAM work at the hospital to almost £80 million after previous projects to improve its infrastructure, extend and refurbish a specialist rehabilitation centre and add a three-storey new build extension.

(Press release West Dunbartonshire Council:) Dumbarton, 22 April 2013 - A topping out ceremony has been held to mark the completion of the exterior of the new £15.5 million Dumbarton Academy building. The final concrete plinth was laid on the roof of the school by Councillor Michelle Stewart, Convener of Education, Councillor David McBride, Convener of Housing, Environmental and Economic Development, Grant Robertson from the Scottish Futures Trust and Douglas Keillor, Regional Director from BAM Construction.

(Press release Stoford:) Bristol, 30 April 2013 - Midland property specialists Stoford celebrated reaching the highest point of a 62,275 sq ft office building for Simplyhealth with a ‘topping out’ ceremony on site in Clifton, Bristol. Des Benjamin, Chief Executive Officer of the national healthcare provider, laid a number of bricks on the sixth floor of the stunning Simplyhealth House headquarters which is scheduled for completion in November.

Hemel Hempstead, 3 May 2013 - BAM has been announced as preferred bidder for a £9 million contract to build UTC Cambridge. The contractor will deliver a three-storey building to hold 670 students aged 14 to 19.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 1 May 2013 - BAM PPP PGGM Infrastructure Coöperatie, the investment joint venture between BAM and Dutch pension fund service provider PGGM, together with BAM Contractors has reached financial close for a roads public private partnership (PPP) contract with the National Roads Authority, for the design, build, finance and maintenance of the N11/N7 Arklow/Rathnew PPP contract.

Leeds, 19 April 2013 - The Leeds Arena site has been handed over from Leeds City Council to the operators, SMG, to start the interior fit-out process. The handover marks the end of the construction phase of the flagship Leeds Arena project. Led by the developer Leeds City Council, organisations including BAM, Arup, Populous, IPW and Davis Langdon – have helped to successfully complete the scheme on time and on budget.

Hemel Hempstead, 25 April 2013 - The Education Funding Agency has appointed BAM Construction Ltd as the selected panel member for the £27 million contract for the Midlands 2 capital batch (schools located in Birmingham, Derby and Nottinghamshire). More than 1,800 pupils in one primary, one secondary and two special schools will be taught in new buildings.

25 April 2013 - One of Europe's leading construction companies, Royal BAM Group, announced today that its companies in the UK continue to perform resiliently in the current market, according to financial results posted for the year ending 31 December 2012. The combined turnover for BAM Construct UK, BAM Nuttall and BAM PPP, amounted to £1.7 billion with a combined pre-tax profit of £34.7 million and a margin of 2.0%. Their combined forward order book is valued at £2.7 billion.

Artist’s impression exterior Dar-es-Salaam International Airport Terminal 3

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 19 April 2013 - BAM International, the operating company of Royal BAM Group active outside Europe, has been awarded the contract to design and construct the new Terminal 3 complex including associated works at the Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Client is Tanzania Airports Authority. The contract value of phase 1 of the project amounts tomore than €130 million. BAM International will be executing the project in a joint venture with UK sister company BAM Nuttall. The Dutch sister company BAM Advies & Engineering is involved as one of the design-partners.

Cement plant in Indonesia

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 9 April 2013 – BAM Indonesia has been awarded a contract for the onshore civil works of the second line of the new Holcim cement plant in Tuban, East Java, Indonesia. It will take BAM approximately 19 months to finalise this €37 million contract. BAM’s client is PT ThyssenKrupp Polysius Indonesia, which is the overall contractor responsible for the erection of the new clinker and cement factory for Holcim, Indonesia’s third largest cement maker.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 2 April 2013 - The joint venture between BAM PPP and PGGM (BAM PPP PGGM Infrastructure Coöperatie) continues to develop positively. In 2012 it achieved financial close on two projects (Schools Bundle 3 in Ireland and the N33 Assen-Zuidbroek in the Netherlands) and received another two existing projects transferred from BAM PPP (A59 in the Netherlands and Somerset Schools in the UK).

First ship at fuel jetty Sierra Leona

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 27 March 2013 – The bulk carrier Gypsum Integrity (197 metres long and sailing under Bermuda flag) was the first ship that has been berthed at the new fuel unloading and layover facility in Pepel, Sierra Leone. The jetty has been built by BAM International and joint venture partner Stefanutti Stocks for African Minerals Ltd in only four months.

Primaries for Sheffield

Hemel Hempstead, 25 March 2013 - BAM Construction has been named preferred bidder for a £10 million contract to build two primary schools in Sheffield. The UK-wide contractor, which has offices in Leeds, will build the schools in Shirecliffe and Fir Vale for Sheffield City Council. Each school will have capacity for 420 pupils aged 4 to 11. They are being built to meet a rising demand for primary places in the city.
