First pile driven at petroleum jetty in Sierra Leone

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 31 July 2014 – BAM International and its South African joint-venture partner Stefanutti Stocks have driven the first pile for the construction of  the petroleum jetty at the Kissy Oil Terminal of Freetown in Sierra Leone.

Hemel Hempstead, 30 July 2014 - BAM has secured preferred bidder status for four Hull and East Riding priority schools. The batch of schools, collectively valued at around £38 million, includes two secondary schools and two primary schools and together will provide learning spaces for 3,230 pupils.

BAM to build £33 million residential care facility

Hemel Hempstead, 29 July 2014 - BAM is to build a £33 million residential care facility in Oxfordshire. The contractor is to construct a retirement village, Richmond Witney, for Richmond Care Villages, who are part of Bupa. The 4 ha facility will include space for approximately 240 residents, as well as a restaurant, a gym, a swimming pool, a library, a shop and an outdoor bowling green.

BAM Clough JV completes first Ichthys LNG facility in Australia

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 29 July 2014 – BAM Clough Joint Venture has completed the design and construct contract for the Ichthys LNG Project’s Module Offloading Facility (MOF) near Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia for client JKC Australia LNG (JGC Corporation, KBR and Chiyoda Corporation).

Hemel Hempstead, 24 July 2014 - BAM Construction is making good progress on the hotel structure of the newest development on the Birmingham skyline. Refurbishment works are also advancing to the Digbeth Cold Store. Kuwaiti real estate development company Salhia is behind the Beorma scheme in central Birmingham, which has now reached the 5th floor of the new hotel building.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 22 July 2014 - BAM PPP PGGM Infrastructure Coöperatie has been selected by the Department of Education and Skills (DoES) and the National Development Finance Agency (NDFA) to deliver four new post primary schools in Counties Tipperary, Cork, Clare and Louth in Ireland subject to the satisfactory outcome of the planning process. The Schools PPP Programme Bundle 4 is the first accommodation-based project in the Irish Government’s Stimulus Programme to reach Preferred Tenderer stage.

A3 building at Glory Park

Hemel Hempstead, 17 July 2014 - BAM Properties has sold one of its speculatively developed office blocks – the A3 building at Glory Park in High Wycombe in the South of England – to F&C, via its subsidiary IRP Holdings. IRP Holdings has bought the 19,428 sq ft building for £6.97 million, at an initial yield of 7%.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 15 July 2014 - The Government Buildings Agency (Rijksvastgoedbedrijf) and BAM PPP PGGM Infrastructure Coöperatie U.A. have reached financial close today for the renovation of the Rijnstraat 8-building in The Hague. The new flexible government office Rijnstraat 8 will accommodate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, the Immigration and Naturalisation Services and the Dutch Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) as of early 2017. The contract covers the design, construction, financing, maintenance and soft services over a twenty five year period (‘DBFMO’).

BAM selected to build first combined emergency services centre in Wales

BAM Construction Ltd has been selected as the preferred contractor for the £10 million design and build contract for the Ambulance and Fire Services Resource Centre in Wrexham. This is the first joint practice centre to be commissioned through the partnership scheme with the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust and the North Wales Fire & Rescue Service  under the Designed for Life: Building for Wales Framework.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 7 July 2014 - Based on the latest available information, Royal BAM Group nv expects project losses totalling approximately €75 million, due to:

  • Deterioration of a large civil engineering project in Germany which is one of the handful of lossmaking projects reported last year. The problems are due to adverse ground conditions; technical solutions have been implemented to keep this project on schedule but these are more costly than anticipated.
  • Unexpected problems at a mid-sized UK civil engineering project which was bid for in 2012. This is due to a combination of adverse ground conditions and bad weather.

Hemel Hempstead, 1 July 2014 - BAM Construction has been appointed to build the £50 million research centre known as the Living Systems Institute, for the University of Exeter. The construction value is £32 million. BAM has offices in the Devon city and will use a predominately local supply chain to deliver the new building.
