Adam Harding becomes regional director of BAM Construction South East

Hemel Hempstead, 29 September 2015 - BAM Construction’s South East business – behind projects such as the Ashmolean Museum, the Laboratory of Molecular Biology for the Medical Research Council in Cambridge, and Network Rail’s National Centre in Milton Keynes, has appointed a new regional director. Adam Harding, 43, officially takes up the top role on 1 October in a business whose work spans 13 counties.

Metro, Salford Quays, BAM Properties landmark building on Trafford Road

Salford (Greater Manchester), 29 September 2015 - Hamburg Süd, a German company ranked among the world’s ten largest shipping lines, has taken the last remaining floor of BAM Properties ‘Metro’ office development at Salford Quays. Hamburg Süd, which has been in operation since 1871, has agreed a ten year lease on approximately 17,700 sq ft in this landmark development.

Kieron Meade

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 28 September 2015 – The Executive Board of Royal BAM Group nv has appointed Kieron Meade as managing director of BAM PPP bv with effect from 1 October 2015. Kieron Meade has been a director of BAM PPP since 2009 and will succeed Richard Fielder, who will step down in relation to his retirement.

Busway statement

(Joint statement from Cambridgeshire County Council and BAM Nuttall:) Cambridge/Camberley, 25 September 2015 - Cambridgeshire County Council and BAM Nuttall have agreed to carry out a series of surveys and investigations into the construction of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. The County Council have raised a number of concerns with BAM Nuttall about the construction of the guided busway which centre around movement of the foundations and the joints between the guideway beams. In 2014 the County Council gave notice to BAM Nuttall of its intention to commence legal action in regard to these concerns. The two parties have now agreed to jointly fund a series of investigations and surveys into the behaviour of the guideway.

Soesterberg/Bunnik, the Netherlands, 23 September 2015 – Construction company BAM is taking the first steps towards a smart grid with the retrofit of 69 homes of social housing corporation Portaal in Soesterberg. The retrofit is one of the projects undertaken as part of ‘de Stroomversnelling’ programme (the Rapids – electricity acceleration) to refurbish (often older) homes to become comfortable, energy efficient net-zero-energy homes. In Soesterberg (near Utrecht) Portal and BAM have fit seven homes with smart technology to deal with the electrical and mechanical installations and thus making these houses ‘Smart Grid Ready’.

BAM Deutschland wins € 88 million hospital contract in Stuttgart

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 10 September 2015 – BAM Deutschland AG (the German operating company of Royal BAM Group nv, specialising in building construction projects) has acquired a contract for the partial renewal of Stuttgart’s municipality hospital. The contract value exceeds € 88 million. The client is Stuttgart's city administration.

BAM secures £16 million scheme for the University of Lincoln

Hemel Hempstead, 9 September 2015 - BAM Construction has won the £16 million contract to construct the Isaac Newton Building for the University of Lincoln, the company has announced. After a competitive tendering process, BAM was selected to construct the major new academic facility on the University’s Brayford Pool Campus. The company will create a four-storey extension to Lincoln’s existing Engineering Hub to form the new building, named in honour of one of the world’s greatest ever scientists.
