The Clean Up Crew

Camberley, 9 November 2015 - Braving downpours and muddy conditions, team members from the BMB JV (BAM Nuttall, Morgan Sindall and Balfour Beatty) joined local residents, their colleagues from Tideway and volunteers from the charity Thames21 to literally get stuck in with a clean-up operation on the banks of the River Thames at Chiswick Eyot in West London last Friday (30 October). The event was organised by Thames21 which is running a citizen science project to improve understanding of what litter is in the River Thames and where it comes from.

ProRail and BAM sign contract rail track doubling project between Utrecht Central Station and Utrecht Leidsche Rijn

Utrecht, the Netherlands, 4 November 2015 - ProRail (the Dutch rail infrastructure manager) and BAM Infra have signed an agreement for the rail extension between Utrecht Leidsche Rijn and Utrecht Central Station. The doubling is the final part of the ‘VleuGel / Randstadspoor’ project. BAM will start the construction activities in mid 2016. The track will be available for passenger trains at the end of 2018. The contract value amounts to € 47.8 million.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 30 October 2015 - BAM International has received the instruction to proceed with phase 2 of the design and construct contract of the new Terminal 3 of Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, by Tanzania Airports Authority. The contract value of phase 2 is over €100 million. The contract value of phase 1, awarded to BAM in 2013, was more than €130 million.

BAM Deutschland wins contract to build hotel near the remains of the Berlin Wall

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 29 October 2015 – BAM Deutschland AG (the German operating company of Royal BAM Group nv, specialising in building projects) has won a contract for the construction of a hotel in Berlin. The client is project development company Am Postbahnhof GmbH & Co. The contract value is over €15 million.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 23 October 2015 – BAM Infra Nederland bv has sold its subsidiary Mostert De Winter bv in Hardinxveld-Giessendam to Elkarij bv in Wouw. Mostert De Winter is roof garden, façade vegetation system  and landscaping specialist. The transaction includes all 39 employees, work in progress and plant and equipment.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 22 October 2015 - The Kier BAM joint venture, which formed to meet the needs of the new nuclear market, and was chosen to provide the enabling works for Hinkley Point C new nuclear power station, has agreed a £203 million (approximately €275 million) contract in final agreed form, in order to deliver the first phase of this key new nuclear project.

The approach to safe working of the firm behind the £80 million lots 1 and 3 schemes of the North West Cambridge Development – BAM Construction – was rated as ‘exceptional’ by the independent inspectors, the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS).

Sea lock at IJmuiden

IJmuiden, the Netherlands, 20 October 2015 – Rijkswaterstaat and the OpenIJ consortium have reached financial close for the contract to design, construct, finance and maintain a new sea lock at IJmuiden. The OpenIJ consortium consists of BAM-PGGM, VolkerWessels and DIF. The contract value is approximately €500 million.

(Press release ScotRail Alliance:) 16 October 2015 - BAM has today been appointed principal contractor for the £170 million [more than € 225 million] upgrade of the Aberdeen-Inverness line. The Scottish Government-funded enhancement will transform journeys on the route introducing a half-hourly commuter service between Aberdeen and Inverurie and additional peak services between Inverness and Elgin.

National Graphene Institute scoops two major UK construction awards

Hemel Hempstead, 15 October 2015 - One of Manchester’s newest buildings – the National Graphene Institute (NGI) – has been crowned the Major Building Project of the Year at the British Construction Industry Awards, 2015. Remarkably, it also won the BIM Project Application Award as well. The £61 million building was built by BAM Construction – the contractor behind the Manchester City Football Academy and now behind No 1 Spinningfields. NGI was designed by Jestico and Whiles, engineered by Ramboll, with EC Harris as consultants.
