BAM winner of 2017 Crystal Prize for most transparent annual report

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 22 November 2017 – Royal BAM Group is winner of the 2017 Crystal Prize, the award for the most transparent 2016 annual report. BAM was nominated together with Royal Schiphol Group, Siemens Nederland and energy network company Alliander, last year’s winner. The main trophy of the Transparency Benchmark is awarded for the 8th consecutive year.

The Crystal Prize for societal reporting is a joint initiative of the Royal Dutch Professional Association of Accountants (NBA) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. Together, they hope to foster and further improve societal reporting by businesses and organisations.

The jury acknowledges that BAM is operating in a sector which has recently taken a heavy financial toll. The jury appreciates BAM’s efforts to firmly keep societal issues on the agenda, incorporating them in its annual report. It specifically applauds the way in which BAM invites its stakeholders to participate in discussions about the long term vision and the 2020 strategic goals.

‘Additionally, BAM offers clear insights on possible improvements, resulting in clear and excellent reporting by a company that dares to profile itself on the theme of sustainability’,

the jury concludes.

The prize was awarded to CEO Rob van Wingerden by the jury’s chair Monika Milz (chair of the Green Deal Board and chair of the Supervisory Board of de Volksbank and Handelsveem).

Van Wingerden:

'BAM is among the ten most transparent companies in the Netherlands for the seventh consecutive year, and is also once again the winner of the 'Construction and maritime' sector. Our Group has chosen for integrated reporting at an early stage to provide our stakeholders with insight into our financial and non-financial value creation. We are convinced that the priority BAM gives to the digitisation of the building process will also  significantly contribute to the realisation of our strategic objectives and the related progress reports.'
