New jobs for bright sparks

Glasgow, 9 October 2017 - The future’s looking brighter for eight Dundee electricians who have just secured new jobs thanks to ongoing work at V&A Museum of Design Dundee.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 6 October 2017 – BAM has been awarded the contract for the structural works (excluding façade and finishing) of the INFINITY housing, office and retail scheme in Luxembourg. The client is real estate developer IMMOBEL. The project will be delivered by BAM’s Walloon subsidiary BAM Galère with its Luxembourg subsidiary BAM Lux in joint venture with Cegelec (mechanical and electrical contracting). The joint venture will start construction of the offices in October 2017. The scheme is due to be completed mid-2020 for the residential building.

BAM chosen to create £10 million primary in Huddersfield

Hemel Hempstead, 25 September 2017 - Kirklees Metropolitan District Council has appointed BAM Construction to create Beaumont Primary Academy in Huddersfield. The £10 million school has just commenced on site, and is funded by the Council.

Investigation results known of technical cause partial collapse Eindhoven Airport parking garage

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 25 September 2017 – Today, the results of the investigations into the technical cause for the partial collapse of the P1 parking garage under construction at Eindhoven Airport on Saturday 27 May 2017 have been announced. In the past months the Netherlands Organisation for applied scientific research TNO, on behalf of Eindhoven Airport, and engineering consultant Hageman, assigned by BAM, have investigated the technical cause for the collapse. The conclusions of these investigations are aligned and clear.

Plans unveiled for prime waterfront site at Horgan’s Quay, Cork

Cork, 7 September 2017 - HQ Developments Limited, a joint venture between BAM Ireland and the Clarendon Group, has announced its plans for a new Urban Quarter at Horgan’s Quay, Cork. This six-acre prime City Centre site adjoins Kent Railway Station and benefits from 160 metres frontage on to the River Lee.

Hemel Hempstead, 12 September 2017 - Dover District Council has given the go ahead for the construction of a new £26 million Dover District Leisure Centre.  Construction will start on the 2.1ha site in Whitfield later this month with a planned opening early in 2019. Following competitive tenders, the Council has awarded a contract to BAM Construction to create the new leisure centre.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 8 September 2017 – The Flemish-Dutch Scheldt Commission (Vlaams-Nederlandse Scheldecommissie, VNSC, a partnership between the Netherlands and Flanders for jointly managing the Scheldt estuary) has commissioned the Sassevaart joint venture the contract to construct a new lock at Terneuzen. The contract value is more than €753 million. The Sassevaart joint venture consists of BAM (the Dutch and Belgian sister companies BAM Infra and BAM Contractors), DEME (DEME Infra Marine Contractors B.V. and Dredging International N.V.) and the Belgian contractor Algemene Aannemingen Van Laere N.V.

The agreement has released a significant sum from the construction budget that the client can spend on other critical areas of the build.

Edinburgh, 24 August 2017 - BAM Construction has been appointed by Edinburgh Airport Ltd to deliver the first phase of their Terminal Expansion Project (TEP). Once completed TEP will provide new domestic and international arrival facilities including baggage reclaim and border control facilities, additional retail and food/beverage outlets and expanded lounge space along with new office accommodation. The project will also include link bridges and stair nodes to allow connection to new larger aircraft stands and an extension to the south east pier to provide additional departure/arrival gates.

Jedburgh set for new intergenerational learning campus

(Press release Scottish Borders Council:) Melrose, 22 August 2017 - We have welcomed the announcement from the Scottish Government on the new intergenerational campus in Jedburgh. The new facility will serve 2 to 18 year olds as well as providing further education opportunities. The funding for the new campus was confirmed by Deputy First Minister John Swinney on a visit to Jedburgh Grammar today, as part of the fifth phase of the Scottish Government’s £1.8 billion ‘Schools for the Future’ programme.
