BAM takes it to the next level with the Microsoft HoloLens

At the end of October last year, BIM Center of BAM Advies & Engineering, part of BAM Bouw and Techniek, carried out the first tests with the Microsoft HoloLens on the Trappenburch project in Utrecht. This led to many positive reactions from the organisation itself and far beyond. Colleagues Nico and Dinus, who had the honour of working on these tests, are now famous throughout the Netherlands.

Stadium transitions to data driven operation: from preventive maintenance to data-driven maintenance

Amsterdam, 16 February 2017 - BAM Bouw en Techniek and Honeywell will become strategic innovation partners of the Amsterdam ArenA for all technology. Part of the agreement forms the installation of a new building management system for the management of the technical systems in the stadium. Assisted by sensors, the building management system collects data from the connected equipment, which is analysed by BAM and Honeywell. Based on data analysis, failures are detected early so that maintenance can be carried out before any inconvenience arises. The systems of BAM Bouw en Techniek and Honeywell make the Amsterdam ArenA a ‘flagship’ in the field of ‘data driven operation’, whereby preventive regular maintenance makes room for predictable, data-driven maintenance.

Contractor for Two Chamberlain Square announced

(News release Paradise Birmingham:) Birmingham, 14 February 2017 - Construction group BAM has been chosen to build Two Chamberlain Square, the second building in the first phase of the Paradise development. The 183,000 sq ft building is due for completion in 2019, shortly after One Chamberlain Square, and is being constructed on a speculative basis.

Council welcomes re-opening of Boundary Road

Road reopens following year-long bridge replacement project

(News release West Berkshire Council:) Newbury, 1 February 2017 - The bridge on Boundary Road has been officially re-opened this week. The bridge over the railway has been reconstructed as part of Network Rail's Great Western Electrification programme to enable overhead power lines to be installed to power a new fleet of electric trains.

Main contractor appointed for Glan Clwyd Hospital's new neonatal unit

Hemel Hempstead, 2 February 2017 - BAM Construction has been chosen as preferred bidder for the construction of an £18 million unit to care for very sick and premature babies at Glan Clwyd Hospital. The scheme is known as the Sub-Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre (SuRNICC). Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) has made the appointment after funding was announced by Vaughan Gething, the Welsh Government’s health secretary.

Hemel Hempstead, 26 January 2017 - Perth and Kinross Council has announced a £10 million investment in Perth Museum and Art Gallery, which will result in a major overhaul to the building and the creation of a new collection store in the city.  The revamp will deliver modern facilities on par with the National Museum of Scotland and other recent major refurbishments. The local authority has appointed BAM Construction to carry out the work on the museum with the overall design of the project led by architectural firm Hoskins. Perth is currently bidding to become UK City of Culture 2021 and the museum renovation is intended to support the city of Perth’s future development. The project is anticipated to increase the cultural offerings of the city, improve the quality of life for residents and attract greater numbers of visitors.

BAM awarded contract to build Collection Building Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 26 January 2017 – The Municipality of Rotterdam (on behalf of Stichting Collectiegebouw) has awarded BAM Bouw en Techniek the contract for the construction of the Collection Building for Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. The mirror-clad building designed by architectural firm MVRDV will house a public art depot. The contract value is approximately €43 million. BAM will start construction at the beginning of March. Completion is expected in 2019.

BAM Clough’s owned Jack-up barge IB-914 was employed during the project at Karratha, in which it had zero downtime. The barge had been prepared to withstand all storms that might occur.

BAM Construction preferred bidder for early stages  of Dover District Leisure Centre Contract

Hemel Hempstead, 9 January 2017 - Dover District Council has announced that BAM Construction is its preferred contractor for the pre-construction phase of the new £26 million Dover District Leisure Centre. This follows a competitive tender held towards the end of 2016 procured through the Southern Construction Framework. Contract terms are currently being finalised.

BAM secures place on new capital framework for Staffordshire County Council

Hemel Hempstead, 5 January 2017 - BAM has been appointed to a new major projects capital procurement framework by Staffordshire County Council. BAM has been appointed for schemes valued at £9 million and above. The Council’s initial assessment is that this will produce around £30 million to £60 million of schemes over the framework’s four year term. Work on offer will consist mostly of schools, sporting and day care facilities.
