(Press release Vattenfall:) Amsterdam, 29 November 2018 - Vattenfall has made the decision to invest a total of EUR 64 million in the Haringvliet wind farm in Goeree-Overflakkee (Zuid-Holland) and the Moerdijk wind farm in Noord-Brabant. This is a major milestone for Vattenfall, whose ambition is to achieve fossil fuel-free living within one generation.

Contracts have also been signed with two parties that involve the installation, delivery and construction of the wind power turbines. The Nordex Group will supply the 13 wind power turbines for both wind farms. BAM Infra will be responsible for the civil works for the Haringvliet wind farm. This includes laying cables and pipework at the wind farm. The contractor for the civil works at the Moerdijk wind farm has not yet been announced as the bidding process is still ongoing.

Haringvliet wind farm

Haringvliet wind farm will consist of a total of six wind power turbines that will be installed in the north of Goeree-Overflakkee island between Middelharnis and Stad aan 't Haringvliet. The power output of the wind farm is expected to be in the region of 22 MW. This will be enough to supply green electricity to around 22,000 households. The maximum height of the wind turbines is 150 meters. Construction of the wind farm will begin early in 2019. The wind turbines will be part of the Haringvliet South energy farm in an area of approximately 50 hectares. A solar farm will be installed in the same location by Vattenfall in the future. There are also plans to build a battery to store the power that is generated.

Moerdijk wind farm

Moerdijk wind farm will have seven wind power turbines with a total of 27 MW that will be installed in the harbour area and industrial estate in Moerdijk. These wind turbines will be up to 180 metres high and will provide power for approximately 27,000 households. Construction of this wind farm will begin early in 2019. A solar energy farm will also be built at the wind farm. This energy farm will be developed by the local council and the Moerdijk Energy Transition Foundation with support and partial finance from Vattenfall.
