London City Airport awards BAM Nuttall with major contract for concrete deck extension

London, 27 February 2018 – London City Airport has awarded a contract to BAM Nuttall for a new 75,000 m2 concrete deck extension. The deck is an important first stage of construction, as part of the £480m City Airport Development Programme, supporting new infrastructure including aircraft stands, a parallel taxiway and a world-class passenger terminal extension.

Microsoft’s hi-tech HQ at Leopardstown

Dublin.

(Translation of original Dutch news release Rijkswaterstaat:) Utrecht, the Netherlands, 22 February 2018 - Rijkswaterstaat (part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment and responsible for the design, construction, management and maintenance of the main infrastructure facilities in the Netherlands) intends to award the reinforcement of the Afsluitdijk and increasing the water discharge capacity to Levvel bv (in formation). A joint venture of BAM PPP PGGM Infrastructure Coöperatie U.A. / Van Oord Aberdeen Infrastructure Partners B.V. / RebelValley B.V. will be responsible for designing, building and pre-financing the project.

BAM reports full year adjusted result before tax of €63.3 million
  • Full year adjusted result margin at 1%; excluding previously announced loss at sea lock IJmuiden at 2%
  • Construction and Property: improved margins due to prior restructuring in the Netherlands and Germany
  • Civil engineering: loss mainly due to the Netherlands; partly offset by UK, Ireland and Germany
  • PPP: strong performance from existing portfolio; 50% tender hit rate
  • Increased order book; 84% of revenue in hand for 2018
  • Impairment of deferred tax assets triggered by past underperformance in the Dutch fiscal entity
  • Dividend per share proposal of €0.10 (2016: €0.09) with scrip alternative and buy-back to offset dilution

Tim Hesketh previously held the position of Commercial Director at Hochtief PPP Solutions (UK) Ltd and has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, half of which has been spent within the PPP market, giving him a depth of experience covering numerous accommodation and major infrastructure projects.

Rockspring and Sterling select BAM for 103 Colmore Row

(Press release Rockspring and Sterling:) Birmingham, 12 February, 2018 - The construction of Birmingham’s most anticipated new office development, 103 Colmore Row, has taken a major step forward. Rockspring Property Investment Managers LLP (Rockspring) and Sterling Property Ventures (Sterling), the development team behind Birmingham’s tallest office tower, have selected BAM for the £80 million build contract. The contractor begins site surveys today (12 February), alongside an intense period of pre-construction design. The main substructure works commence in early June, with completion of the 26-storey building set for Q3 2020.

BAM Nuttall creates virtual experience for ICE exhibition

Camberley / London, 8 February 2018 - With the launch of a new 3D virtual walkthrough application, the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is inviting young people and families from across the country to explore the Invisible Superheroes exhibition from wherever they are this half-term. The exhibition features real-life engineers as cartoon superheroes who are battling to save the planet from dangers such as climate change, flooding, and the spread of disease.

Development of Grade A office space at Atlantic Square, Glasgow to start in March for major UK Government hub

Glasgow, 7 February 2018 - BAMTCP Atlantic Square, a joint venture between BAM Properties and TCP Developments, and LGIM Real Assets (Legal & General) have confirmed that work will begin in March 2018 on the development of circa 284,000 sq. ft. of Prime Grade A office space at Atlantic Square in Glasgow, 187,000 sq. ft. of which will house the next UK Government hub, and will be funded by Legal & General Retirement with BAM TCP Atlantic Square funding the remaining 97,000 sq. ft. of speculative space.

£30 million construction scheme brings Preston man ‘back home’

Mark Hardisty, now a senior site manager with BAM Construction in Salford, has returned after ten years to work on the first phase of University’s £200 million masterplan, the Engineering Innovation Centre.
