Bunnik, the Netherlands, 13 December 2019 – All operating companies of Royal BAM Group nv are BIM Level 2 certified. With BAM International’s recent certification to ISO 19650 is Royal BAM Group one of the first fully certified international construction companies.

Already in 2016, BAM defined digitalisation as one of the driving forces, which is shaping the construction industry. The Group’s strategy for 2016-2020 (‘Building the present, creating the future’) includes BAM’s intention to be at the forefront of digitalisation. The BIM Level 2 certification, which is now achieved by all Group companies, is one of the outcomes of this strategy. Other steps include BAM’s partnerships with organisations such as Autodesk, Bentley, Leica and Microsoft  and the focus on continuous improvement of digital construction in and with BAM’s supply chain.

ISO 19650 is the international standard for managing information over the entire life cycle of a building, using Building Information Modeling (BIM). It contains the same principles and high requirements as BIM Level 2 and is closely aligned with the current PAS 1192 standards.

The internal processes for producing and managing information on tenders and projects of all BAM operating companies are generating work that is compliant with these standards. Since December 2018, the standards have become an official ISO standard released in two parts: BS EN ISO 19650-1 (Concepts and principles) and BS EN ISO 19650-2 (Delivery phase of the assets).

Menno de Jonge, Director Digital Construction: ‘The standards set out the recommended concepts and principles for business processes across the built environment sector in support of the management and production of information during the life cycle of built assets (referred to as ‘information management’) when using BIM. A growing number of BAM’s clients and government institutions, in among other countries the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Middle East, are demanding compliancy with the BIM Level 2 standard in order to work with them, and in order to produce the highest quality work.’
