BAM Danmark plants fruit trees at day care centres in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark, 3 May 2019 – BAM Danmark (BAM’s Danish subsidiary for general building projects) is marking the 150th anniversary of its parent company Royal BAM Group by planting fruit trees at day care centers in Copenhagen. The Dutch-based construction and civil engineering Royal BAM Group is celebrating its anniversary by planting 150,000 trees all around the world to help preserve the planet for future generations.

BAM Danmark has chosen to collaborate with Plant et Træ in Copenhagen to facilitate four small ‘fruit tree plantations’ at day care centres in Copenhagen area. Pear, apple and cherry trees and various berry plants are part of an educational package for the children. With books, posters and planting guides they will learn how to plant and maintain the ‘fruit tree plantation’.

Bo Svendsen, managing director of BAM Denmark attended the tree planting festivities at SFO Lundtofte in Kgs. Lyngby and said: ‘The enthusiasm of the children underpins our choice to celebrate our 150th anniversary by planting trees.’

A total of four day care centres in Copenhagen area will receive the educational package including the small fruit plantation of 14 trees and plants. It is intended to teach children about the necessity of trees, from CO2 sequestering, to biodiversity to food production.

Crown Prince Frederik of the Royal family in Denmark is patron of Plant et Træ foundation in Denmark. Royal BAM Group collaborates with Trees for All with regard to the world-wide tree planning activities. This organisation plants 100,000 trees in reforestation projects in Bolivia and Uganda and 50,000 trees in the European countries in which BAM operates.

BAM Danmark was founded in 2014 by Royal BAM Group, and has since then successfully completed various building projects, including an office building for the Department of Micro and Nanotechnology and a biotechnology research center, both for the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), the European school in Copenhagen (design and build) and the renovation and extension of offices for the department of public works for the city of Helsingør.
