Contractors get a learning experience from building new Bucks school

Hemel Hempstead, 3 September 2019 - Aylesbury’s newest school – St Michael’s Catholic School, which contractors completed just a few weeks ago [5 August] – has proven to be a learning experience for the team that built it. The school’s £24 million, 68-week construction has given an education to 14 young apprentices and achieved a massive 303 weeks of combined training experience.

(Communiqué de presse SOFICO:) 31 août 2019 - Ce samedi 31 août, le Gouvernement wallon, la SOFICO, le SPW Mobilité et Infrastructures, la Ville de Couvin et le Conseil Départemental des Ardennes, ont inauguré la deuxième phase du contournement autoroutier de Couvin, entre le Ry de Rome et Brûly (frontière française). Dans le courant de la première semaine de septembre, il sera possible de circuler sur cette toute nouvelle autoroute E420 de Frasnes à Brûly en Belgique, puis jusqu’à Charleville-Mézières (La Francheville) en France via l’A304.

Wellington man Dermot shortlisted for UK construction honours

Hemel Hempstead, 3 September 2019 - A Wellington man has been shortlisted for the construction industry’s most prestigious prize – for his work on a major new building in Somerset. Dermot Parkinson, 52, who has lived in the West Country for almost 30 years and now lives in Wellington, has been shortlisted for the Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA), for his work leading the construction of the UK Hydrographic Office.

BAM 2019H1: adjusted pre-tax loss of €27.2m; FY 2019 margin outlook of around 1% confirmed
  • As announced on 8 July, results were impacted by higher costs on a civil project and construction projects in Germany, and a BAM International project. The total impact is €94m.
  • Construction and Property: strong performance in the Netherlands and UK, offset by project losses in Germany and International
  • Civil engineering: negative result includes additional loss of €7.5m at OpenIJ project in 2019H1
  • PPP: strong performance and two new projects (one financial close and one preferred bidder)
  • Order book: stable compared to 2018 due to focus on quality over volume
  • Strong cash position with trade working capital efficiency at -9.1%

Aberdeen-Inverness line to reopen on-time for passengers

SeaRock provides protection to picturesque Dorset coast

(Press release Aggregate Industries:) 12 August 2019 - SeaRock – a new joint venture between Aggregate Industries and Earlcoate construction – has completed an impressive delivery of armour stone to protect Dorset’s picturesque West Bay, for principle contractor BAM Nuttall. The project was part of a £9 million coastal defence project, funded by Defra, West Dorset Council and Wessex Regional Flood Defence Committee.

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 22 July 2019 – BAM Lux, a subsidiary of the Walloon BAM company Galère, has been awarded a contract by the Luxembourg real estate firm Feltes & Associés Promotion for the structural works of an office in Strassen, just west of Luxembourg City. The contract value is €18 million.

18 July 2019 - The new M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy motorway bypass in County Wexford has been officially opened to traffic today. Three new sections of road combine to create the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy Public Private Partnership Scheme, the M11/N11 mainline, the N30 dual carriageway and the N30 mainline. The scheme will result in reductions in travel times on the Dublin to Wexford route of approximately 15 minutes during off-peak times and 30 minutes during peak times.

BAM lowers full year outlook; maintains 2020 strategic targets
  • Outlook for full year 2019 lowered to an adjusted result before tax margin of around 1 per cent
  • Higher than expected costs for a civil project and a small number of construction projects in Germany (approximately €65 million) and a BAM International project (approximately €25 million)
  • Part of these costs will be recovered, but claim recognitions currently are not foreseen in 2019
  • As a result BAM will report a loss for the first half of 2019; detailed first half year figures on 22 August 2019
  • Continuing solid performance in the UK, Ireland, PPP and Dutch Construction and Property
  • BAM’s cash position remains solid, in line with the level of mid-2018
