BAM recognised for leading efforts against climate change
Bunnik, the Netherlands, 20 January 2020 – Royal BAM Group nv has been commended for its climate action, achieving a place on CDP's prestigious ‘A List’ for climate change.
The Climate Change A List is published by CDP each year, alongside the A Lists for leadership on protecting forests and water security. They name the world's businesses leading on environmental performance. This year, CDP recognised more than 170 corporates acting on climate change and building a future economy that works for both people and planet.
BAM was recognised for its actions to drive CO2 reductions, mitigate climate risks and develop a low-carbon economy, based on the data submitted by the Group via CDP’s 2019 climate change questionnaire.
CDP scoring drives corporate transparency and the measurement of environmental action. CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely considered as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. In 2019, over 525 investors with over US$96 trillion in assets and 125 major purchasers with US$3.6 trillion in procurement spend requested companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP’s platform and over 8,400 responded.
Rob van Wingerden, CEO of Royal BAM Group: ‘The inclusion in CDP’s Climate Change A list is again a recognition of our efforts to reduce emissions and to achieve a net positive impact on environment and people in the long term by collaborating with construction partners and the supply chain, reducing CO2 emissions and realising the benefits of new sustainable business.’
