Camberley, 10 December 2020 - BAM Nuttall is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with inclusion change-makers WISE (campaign for Women in Science and Engineering). This partnership strengthens BAM Nuttall's existing relationship with WISE and our commitment to gender parity.

BAM's relationship with WISE has positively influenced our business ambitions and plans, supporting gender diversity, and implementing the Ten Steps model. Our relationship with WISE and its members has influenced several successful initiatives, including Unconscious Bias training and a programme for 'Returners to Work.' Our apprenticeship programme is rated highest* for our industry. We are successfully attracting and recruiting increasing numbers of female applicants’ year on year.

BAM Nuttall’s CEO Adrian Savory said of the partnership: ‘The aims of WISE mirror our own, and this strategic partnership supports our work to achieve equality. The WISE Ten Steps has positively influenced our business ambitions and plans – from recruitment to retirement. We're changing how we work and collaborate with our partners to build a more diverse, higher-performing industry. We celebrate the accomplishments of women throughout our businesses and have committed to creating opportunities that accelerate change.’

BAM Nuttall is collaborating with industry partners to build a more diverse, higher-performing sector and accelerate change. We showcase achievements of, and opportunities for, women in engineering and the construction industry, including annual sponsor for Women in Rail Awards female apprentice of the year. Our STEM programme connects with young people, using inspirational people and ground-breaking projects, such as the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme, to capture their attention.

BAM values inclusion, celebrating 1 million women in UK STEM roles earlier this year. Our communities, clients, and global challenges, including climate change, net-zero targets, and the Covid pandemic, demand increased innovation and sustainable solutions. And we believe success is rooted in diversity.

Ruth Blanco, Communications Director for WISE said: ‘We’re thrilled that BAM Nuttall has extended our relationship to become a WISE strategic partner. They have already made significant progress in driving change and creating greater gender balance in engineering and construction which is critical to the economy. WISE members are the lifeblood of the campaign, leading by example, sharing insights and collaborating to make real, sustainable change happen. We make faster progress together and are looking forward to continuing working with BAM Nuttall.’

BAM Nuttall joins WISE strategic partners: client, and transport sector collaborator, Network Rail; banking giants, Lloyds Banking Group; The Northern Ireland Department for the Economy; and the Royal Airforce, in leading the change for women in science, technology, and engineering.
