Zwijndrecht takes a big step towards a circular future with its first timber construction project

Construction of the municipality's first timber construction project starts today in Zwijndrecht (in the Netherlands). The project involves 25 ground-level homes and is the final phase of AM's Euryza area development. BAM Wonen is carrying out the project on behalf of area developer AM. Thanks to the use of industrial timber construction, the homes are expected to be completed as early as August 2026, which is an exceptionally short construction time for a project of this size.

Timber frame construction for a climate-positive future

The three-storey homes with flat roofs have a living area of approximately 140 m² and are constructed using timber frame construction. This project is an important milestone for both the municipality of Zwijndrecht and area developer AM. By choosing wood as the main material, AM is once again taking an important step towards a climate-positive future. Timber frame construction combines CO₂ storage capacity with minimal environmental impact and excellent opportunities for reuse, making it one of the most sustainable construction methods available today.
