AM and Woonplus sign cooperation agreement for redevelopment of Wagenaar site in Schiedam

Area developer AM and housing association Stichting Woonplus Schiedam have signed a cooperation agreement for the comprehensive redevelopment of the Wagenaar site in Groenoord Zuid, Schiedam (the Netherlands). This is the next step in the development of a future-proof plan for approximately 290 new-build homes in a varied mix of social housing, mid-range rental properties and private sector housing. To achieve this, 158 outdated porch houses will be demolished.

Groenoord-Zuid: a neighbourhood in transition

Groenoord is a spacious post-war urban neighbourhood with lots of greenery and a mix of apartments and single-family homes. A large part of the housing stock is owned by Woonplus Schiedam. Woonplus and AM want to develop Groenoord-Zuid into a strong, liveable neighbourhood. A neighbourhood that continues to attract new generations, even as their situation or stage of life changes. This requires more diverse housing types and a better mix of social housing, mid-range rental properties and owner-occupied homes.

From vision to realisation

Area developer AM and Woonplus have worked hard on an area vision. This area vision sets out how both parties want to make Groenoord-Zuid a stronger neighbourhood. This involves not only housing, but also facilities such as parking, playgrounds, green spaces and connections with the surrounding area. AM is responsible for the further development and realisation of the plan on behalf of Woonplus.
