Redevelopment of Ritmeesterterrein officially underway

The municipality of Veenendaal and area developer AM have signed an agreement for the redevelopment of the Ritmeesterterrein. The former factory site will be transformed into a new residential and living environment with approximately 175 homes. The new neighbourhood will offer a mix of apartments and single-family homes, appealing to a broad target group. With the signing of the agreement, the redevelopment officially commences.

Sustainable plan

Sustainability also plays an important role in the development of the Ritmeesterkwartier. Maarten Stam, development manager at AM: 'A large proportion of the private sector homes will be built in a sustainable manner using the BAM Flow concept. These will be circular homes consisting largely of biobased materials, particularly wood.' Sustainability, health, greening and historical character are important principles in the Ritmeesterkwartier. The redevelopment plan was shared and discussed with the local community during two participation evenings. Maarten Stam emphasises the importance of cooperation with the local community: ‘The plan for the Ritmeester site should not only result in a pleasant living environment for future residents, but also in a good living environment for local residents and other stakeholders.’
