Dancing on artistic asphalt

We know asphalt primarily as a paving material for roads, cycle paths and car parks. But now BAM Wegen, in collaboration with a creative designer, has come up with AAC Floors. Special additives in the mix and a special post-installation treatment now make the ‘black stuff’ suitable as a finishing layer for floors in showrooms, discos and even homes!

'The secret of Aesthetic Asphalt Concrete lies in the additives. Various coloured materials, including glass, stone chippings, steel and even plastic, can be added to the mix. You can use practically anything', says Erik Thijsen, project manager at BAM Wegen. It produces a durable, virtually maintenance-free floor with a very attractive appearance. Thijsen says the asphalt floors are suitable for inside and out. 'We've used the product in places as different as company canteens and a disco. Open air applications could include roller blade tracks, public squares and company forecourts.'
