Extension to the Royal Court Guernsey

Work is progressing on site on the new extension to the Royal Court in St. Peter Port, Guernsey. The competition to design the fifteen million euro-scheme was won by a design team lead by HBG Design in collaboration with Nicholas Hare Architects and Buro Happold.

The Royal Court is the seat of Government and the legislature and as such, the scheme represents a major civic development for the States of Guernsey. Due to the steeply sloping constricted site, the building is arranged over five floors to link into the neighbouring listed Royal Court building. The two courtrooms and main public spaces are planned around the top of a major, three storey entrance hall, which, when completed will provide stunning views across the English Channel.  Work is being carried out by local contractors RG Falla under a design-and-build form of contract and is due for completion in January 2006.
