Go-go at Mococo

FCI Constructors is constructing the South Approach and Interchange to the new Interstate 680 Toll Plaza and New Bridge over the Carquinez Strait, located in Martinez, California, USA.

Many changed conditions, including contaminated soil, have added a year to the project’s original completion date. Surrounded by marshlands and environmentally sensitive areas, two refineries, a chemical plant, oil and gas lines as well as two railroad tracks and a freeway, the project comprises phased construction, including two new main bridge structures, the Mococo Overhead Bridge and the Mococo On-Ramp Bridge. The 364-meter eight span Mococo Overhead Bridge flares from five lanes at the South end to seventeen lanes at the new toll plaza. As of the first week in January, post-tensioning of the bridge structure was completed, but nevertheless ten more months remain to complete this challenging project.
