Rotterdam, the Netherlands – HAM, dredging and marine contractors has been awarded the land reclamation contract Penny's Bay in Hong Kong.

The client in this project is the Civil Engineering Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Total value of the project is around NLG 1.2 billion. The work will begin in May 2000 and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2002.

HAM will execute the project with Hong Kong Construction [Holdings] Ltd. in a joint venture in which HAM will participate 80%. The Penny's Bay project concerns land reclamation destined for the development of Hong Kong Disneyland. The contract also involves the construction of two kilometres of coastal protection works and the building of the access road to the future Disneyland park.

During the peak of the work, HAM will be operating some eight trailing suction hopper dredgers on the site.

HAM’s prior track record in Hong Kong includes land reclamation for container terminals HIT 6 and 7 and a substantial part of the new airport Chek Lap Kok. The related infrastructure projects West Kowloon I and II, and the Tai Ho-sector of the North Lantau Expressway have also been executed by HAM.

HAM, dredging and marine contractors operates in the fields of construction and maintenance of harbours and waterways, land reclamation and beach replenishment, coastal protection and embankment works and dredging related offshore activities.
