HAM wins important new contracts in South East Asiah

Rotterdam, The Netherlands – HAM, dredging and marine contractors, has acquired two new marine engineering works in Malaysia and Singapore with a total value of approximately NLG 300 million.

The Bintulu Port Authority commissioned HAM to build a new port and an access channel to the third Liquid Natural Gas factory. The important LNG export harbour Bintulu lies on the western shore of the Malay island Borneo. HAM will move over thirty million cubic metres of soil, part of which will be used for land reclamation in the port area. The coastal and shore protection works will involve around one million ton rock. HAM will deploy trailing suction hopper dredgers and cutter dredgers. The execution of the project is to start right away and completion of the work is scheduled for mid-2001.

In Singapore, the HAM - SMIT joint venture won the Tuas Submarine Gas Pipeline Project. The project involves the construction of a three kilometres long offshore gas pipeline which connects to the West Natuna Gas Transportation System. The work was commissioned to HAM by SembCorp Gas Pte. Ltd. The project will start immediately and will take about one year to complete.
