HBG announces extraordinary shareholders' meeting and issue of half year

Rijswijk, the Netherlands – HBG, Hollandsche Beton Groep nv, is convening an extraordinary shareholders' meeting, to be held at HBG head office, Generaal Spoorlaan 489, Rijswijk, the Netherlands, at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday, 4 September 2001.

At this meeting, the Supervisory Board and the Board of Management will give a presentation to shareholders explaining the half year results for 2001, as well as the Group's targets and strategy, the strategic optAt this meeting, the Supervisory Board and the Board of Management will give a presentation to shareholders explaining the half year results for 2001, as well as the Group's targets and strategy, the strategic options and choices and their financial, social and cultural consequences. By doing so, HBG offers shareholders the opportunity to exchange thoughts about these issues with the Board of Management and the Supervisory Board. HBG has published a memorandum for shareholders about these issues. This memorandum is available at ABN AMRO Bank N.V., Herengracht 595 or Foppingadreef 22 in Amsterdam, Fortis Bank N.V., Rokin 55 in Amsterdam, as well as at the head office of the company in Rijswijk. The English translation is expected to be available as of 27 August.

In view of this meeting, HBG will announce the half year results 2001 on Tuesday 4 September before the opening of the Euronext Amsterdam stock market [and therefore not – as mentioned earlier – on 5 September 2001].
