HBG Ascon acquires Thomas Logan

Kill, Co. Kildare, Ireland – HBG Ascon Ltd has acquired Thomas Logan and Sons Ltd. Thomas Logan is a specialist earthworks company.

The compan's turnover is in the order of €12 million and it has approximately 75 employees. From its head office in Naas, Co. Kildare, Thomas Logan is active throughout Ireland as main contractor as well as subcontractor. The company owns an extensive fleet of specialised equipment.

HBG Ascon Ltd – a group company of the €5.4 billion European construction group HBG – unites the activities of the leading Irish civil engineering contractor Ascon and building specialist Rohcon. Based in Kill, Ascon and Rohcon realise infrastructure and building projects throughout Ireland. With approximately 1500 employees, HBG Ascon's turnover amounts to €330 million.

The Irish government has launched the National Development Plan 2000 – 2006. During this period €6 billion will be invested in an intensive road improvement programme. The availability of specialised plant and skilled labour is essential for HBG Ascon to strengthen its position in the civil market. By acquiring Thomas Logan, HBG Ascon more than doubles the capacity of its plant. Furthermore Thomas Logan has a team of experienced employees [operators, engineers, surveyors and others].

Thomas Logan will be restiled as Logan and will continue to operate in its traditional markets as a subsidiary of Ascon Ltd.
