HBG builds offshore platform for Clyde Petroleum

Schiedam, The Netherlands – Oil company Clyde Petroleum Exploratie bv, based in The Hague, has awarded HBG Steel Structures a contract to construct an offshore gas production platform. The contract value is €15 million.

The offshore platform consists of a 40 metre high steel jacket, a 23 metre high topside and a livinq quarter. The total weight, including helideck and vent stack, is approximately 3,000 tonnes.

The gas production platform will be unmanned. The living quarter can accommodate 14 service employees. Being a specialist in this area, HBG Steel Structures is also involved in the design of this living quarter.

HBG Steel Structures will deliver the platform, with a capacity of 4.8 million m³ gas per day, in July 2003. The platform will be installed in block Q4C of the Dutch Continental Shelf approximately 40 kilometres north-west of IJmuiden.
