HBG combines Dutch road construction and civil engineering activities in HBG

Rijswijk – From 1 April 2000 HBG, Hollandsche Beton Groep nv, is combining the activities of two of its group companies, HBW [civil and marine engineering] and HWZ [road construction], in a new group company, HBG Civiel bv.

This clustering of know-how and experience in road construction, civil and marine engineering will enable HBG to meet the growing demand from clients for an integrated approach to civil engineering, infrastructural and offshore projects. HBG Civiel is the first Dutch contractor to combine these disciplines in a single company, enabling it to offer total solutions from the basis of a single, multidisciplinary organisation.

In addition to these core activities, HBG Civiel has specialist business units and service departments for Development, Design, Projects, Steel Construction, Ground Engineering, Pipelines and Plant. The group companies operate in a decentralised structure with four regional bases in the Netherlands: North [Beetsterzwaag], East [Ede], Northwest [Amsterdam] and Southwest [Capelle aan den IJssel]. HBG Civiel has its headquarters in Gouda. It employs a workforce of around 1,500 in the Netherlands.

From 1 April 2000 the Management of HBG Civiel will be formed by Messrs. J. Rossing, P.L.C.A. Koolen, A. Rongen and D.A. Sperling. Current HWZ managing director J. van Herwijnen will remain in post until 1 August 2000, when he will join the Management of HAM, Hollandsche Aanneming Maatschappij bv, in Capelle aan den IJssel.
