HBG Construction begins £22m office development in Reading

HBG Construction Ltd has started work on the design and construction of a new office development in Forbury Square, Reading for Argent Estates Ltd.

The £22 million scheme involves two main office buildings, a large basement car park and a new public square being constructed on the site of an old abbey and bounded by existing offices close to the centre of Reading.

The two concrete framed office buildings will provide six floors and a total office space of 13,800 sq.m [Building 1 being 3,400 sq.m and Building 2 being 10,500 sq.m].  Facilities for restaurant and retail units are also to be provided with a total area of 8,000 sq.m in Building 2.  Car parking space is to be constructed in a basement across the whole site.

Part of the team with HBG Construction is Porphyrios Associates providing concept design for Building 1 and Liftshutz Davidson providing concept design for Building 2.  Gardiner & Theobald are quantity surveyors for the works.   Completion is programmed for December 2002.
