HBG reaches 'Financial Close' for £60 million Crawley Schools PFI project

HBG Projects Ltd, the Private Finance Initiative [PFI] business unit of HBG Construction Ltd, has reached ‘financial close’ with West Sussex County Council for the £60 million Crawley Schools PFI project.

HBG was named Preferred Bidder for the scheme in March 2003 and is now in the process of delivering a new 1,450 place secondary school for the growing Maidenbower neighbourhood of Crawley, followed by the total replacement of the Thomas Bennett Community College and Ifield Community College on their existing sites.  HBG Facilities Management [FM] will maintain these schools over the next 30 years.

The building of the Crawley Schools follows closely upon HBG’s successful completion and hand-over to Midlothian Council of the £30 million Dalkeith Schools Community Campus PPP project [October 2003] and HBG’s appointment as Preferred Bidder for the £60 million four-schools PFI rebuilding programme for Bristol City Council.  Already operational within the HBG PFI portfolio are the Peacehaven Schools in East Sussex and West Lothian College in Scotland.  HBG is presently bidding for the four-schools East Renfrewshire PFI project as wel as the multi-school Bassetlaw PFI scheme.
