HBG UK steps up its commitment to corporate social responsibility by appointing Caroline Cook as Head of CSR

London, 30 October 2007 - Caroline Cook, former Director of Development and Business Support at Business in the Community, has been appointed as HBG UK's new Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Caroline Cook was instrumental in developing Business in the Community's (BITC) Corporate Responsibility Index, a cross industry benchmarking tool for how businesses integrate CSR through out their organisation. The Index has become a well established tool for assessing the performance of the UK's largest companies.

Her role is wide ranging across HBG's properties, design, construction, services engineering, plant hire and facilities management businesses. She will be looking at how it measures, reports and performs on its various activities, and supporting the business in developing an integrated strategic approach to CSR.

Prior to her work at BITC, she worked as a consultant with the global environmental consulting company ERM, and previously worked for WS Atkins, and in the public sector for the GLC/LWRA and Southern Water.

Richard Gregory, Chief Executive of HBG UK, said: 'Caroline Cook's understanding of this area is essential for a business involved with property and construction. Her appointment shows we intend HBG should deliver what it promises on CSR, and that we recognise its importance to the people using the buildings we create.'
