Hotel without guests that is busy round-the-clock

TyCom, the world’s largest cable company, is building a data hotel in Groningen [North of the Netherlands] as part of a global optical fibre network. Tebodin - in partnership with Lockwood Greene - is responsible for the construction of both the data centre and a booster station that will amplify incoming signals.

The data centre - which involves an investment of around €97 million - has a floor area of 10,000 m2. Approximately half of this will be taken up by installations, including air-conditioning and power plant. The remaining 5,000 m2 - which is divided between smaller units - will be leased fully equipped to telecommunication companies and Internet service providers.
