Interbeton wins contract for upgrading Dubai International Airport

Rijswijk, the Netherlands – Interbeton – group company of HBG, Hollandsche Beton Groep nv – has been awarded the contract for the internal upgrade of the new Sheikh Rashid Terminal at Dubai International Airport. Client is the Department of Civil Aviation Dubai. The contract value is € 10 million.

The scope of works for this project involves the finishing package for the new terminal completed some 12 months ago. The requirement is to introduce colour and texture into the public areas. This will be achieved by using specialist fiber optic decorative lighting to the existing columns and planters as well as introducing vibrant colour either by specialist paints, decorative murals or large blocks of colour in Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete or specialist laminate panels. Stainless steel screens and panels, carpets and tensile fabric awnings give the texture together with the giant futuristic video walls.

During the internal upgrade full passenger services must be maintained. Interbeton will hand over the project early 2002.
