Norway's king opens suspension bridges

King Harold of Norway has officially opened the Storda Bridge and the Bømla Bridge. The two suspension bridges, 700 and 600 metres long, respectively, were built by the joint venture Triangle Contractors.

As part of the consortium, HBG Steel Structures was responsible for the steel bridge decks and the suspension cables, and also for the completion of the road surface. The contract was worth around €38.6 million. Assembling the 30 centimetre thick suspension cables involved HBG Steel Structures in twisting together 4,000 steel wires five millimetres in diameter.
