Nuttall secures £35 million Scottish Water framework contract

The award, to deliver a long-term package of contracts, is for the West Area including Skye and the Western Isles.  The agreement, with an anticipated value of £35 million, provides for improved water treatment facilities for rural supplies together with the refurbishment of major water treatment works.

Nuttall will lead a delivery team to undertake scheme feasibility studies, option appraisals and the design and construction of treatment solutions for fifty-nine water supplies and four major treatment works.

The unique delivery strategy for the programme concentrates on industry best practice suggested in the Egan Report, and partnering principals suggested by Latham.  Nuttall will be looking to develop close relationships with local suppliers in the Highland area to assist in delivering the works.

The initial agreement is for three years until the end of 2003, with a possible extension until the end of 2006.  The programme with North of Scotland Water Authority builds on other recent contract awards gained by Nuttall in the water sector.

The work forms part of a huge improvement scheme programme by NoSWA, which is investing £500 million over the next six years to improve sewerage systems and build new treatment works, and a further £400 million improving water quality.
