Rohcon Ltd completes Bord Gais headquarters

Rohcon Ltd successfully completed the construction of the new headquarters for Bord Gais in Cork, one of the largest office developments ever to take place in the city. The building was formally opened by the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, on Friday, 2nd February 2001.

The building contractors, Rohcon Ltd completed this £12 Million contract in 16 months. the development is located on the old Cork Gas-works site and included restoration works to the old Gas-works wall surrounding the site. Prior to the buildingworks, Rohcon's sister company Ascon Ltd carried out decontamination works to the site.

Architects Keane Murphy Duff designed this bright open state-of-the-art facility. The main building is five storeys high with a glazed circular entrance and a glazed curtain wall system to the front. The sunny south facing façade has a brise soleil shade to minimise solar gain. Located south of the main office block is the two storeys Scada building which houses the nerve centre of the Irish Natural Gas network. This is linked to the main headquarter via a glazed bridge. As well as the 54,000 sq ft office block, this development also includes stores and workshops.

Rohcon Ltd is currently involved on other commercial projects throughout the country and recently started work on the Saint Joseph's Care Centre for the Bon Secour Sisters in Cork.
