Second large stadium-contract for Interbeton joint-venture in South-Africa

Bunnik, Netherlands, 27 February 2007 – Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality has announced to award the construction of the Nelson Mandela Bay Multi-Purpose Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, to a joint-venture of Interbeton bv (the operating company of Royal BAM Group nv, active outside Europe) and the South African construction company Grinaker-LTA. The contract value amounts to approximately € 120 million, of which half for Interbeton.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Multi-Purpose Stadium will have 45,000 seats. The stadium is bult in relation to the 2010 World Championships, which will take place in South Africa. It is expected that the project will be completed by the end of 2008.

Royal BAM Group has announced on 24 January last that Interbeton, also in joint venture with Grinaker-LTA, has been awarded the construction of Soccer City football stadium in Johannesburg. BAM's specialised German subsidiary HBM Stadien- und Sportstättenbau will bring in its expertise to realise both stadiums.
