Teijin Twaron, Tebodin, and Stork ICM sign agreement

Teijin Twaron, Tebodin and Stork ICM have concluded an agreement on the expansion of Teijin Twaron’s production facilities in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. The agreement specifies the responsibilities of the parties with respect to detailed engineering, purchasing, and construction work.

In Delfzijl, Teijin Twaron produces monomer and para-aramid polymer, which are used to manufacture the superstrong Twaron® para-aramid fiber. On June 14 of this year, Teijin Twaron already announced that it was to increase the total production of Twaron para-aramid from 7,500 to 18,500 tons. The estimated date of commissioning the extra capacity will be April 2003. For the Delfzijl site, this means a growth to approximately 17,000 tons of polymer through addition of reactors and distillation columns. The aggregate invested sum for the expansion will be approximately EUR 200 million. Some 40% of this amount will be used for the benefit of the Delfzijl production site.
