Up with the new, down with the old!

As work starts on the demolition of the steel bridge, Misener Marine, part of HBG Constructors, is entering the final stages of the Broadway Bridge Project in Daytona Beach.

The eastbound bridge, the first half of the new bridge crossing Florida’s Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, has already been commissioned [temporarily carrying two-way traffic], and the westbound bridge, over 900 metres long, is shortly due to be handed over to the Florida Department of Transportation. Misener is also responsible for removing the old bridge. The superstructure has been demolished using explosives. Part of the bridge will be left as a fishing jetty.
