HBG Construction has been awarded two further contracts, valued together at over £5.0 million, at The Thistles Shopping Centre, a city centre-shopping mall in Stirling. The awards follow on from the recent £6.9 million-mall refurbishment project carried out by HBG Construction for the same client, Standard Life Investments, at the same location.

Ballast Nedam and HBG will merge their dredging activities into a new joint venture that will be made up of Ballast Nedam Baggeren bv [BNB] and Hollandsche Aanneming Maatschappij bv [HAM]. Ballast Nedam and HBG have signed a memorandum of understanding, as a result of intensive negotiations conducted in recent months. The Boards of Management and Supervisory Boards of HBG and Ballast Nedam, as well as the management of both dredging companies fully support the joint venture.

In the Netherlands, too, HBG is involved in the construction of an entirely new high-speed rail link between Amsterdam and Brussels. HBG is one of the consortium partners on four out of the total of seven construction contracts involved.

Misener Marine [HBG Constructors] has been awarded a $26.5 million design/ build contract by the Florida Department of Transportation to build a 915 metre long bridge and roadway approaches. The project is located near Stuart, Florida, approximately 200 kilometres north of Miami, in the Florida Turnpike, a toll road.

HAM Dredging has ordered large trailing suction hopper dredger from IHC Holland. The vessel will have a hopper capacity of 23,700 m3 and a dead weight of 40,360 tons.

Almere / Amstelveen / Rijswijk, the Netherlands – NV Sportcomplex Almere has reached agreement with the joint venture comprising Ballast Nedam Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij and HBG Vastgoed on the further development and construction of the Omniworld sports and entertainment centre in Almere. The Almere Municipal Council yesterday approved the construction of Omniworld.

Rijswijk, the Netherlands – The Higher Regional Court in Cologne, Germany, today gave its judgment in the appeal brought by both HBG, Hollandsche Beton Groep nv, and the German government against the judgment of the Court at Bonn on 14 March 2000 in the case concerning the Schürmann Complex in Bonn.
