Ritchies has recently completed a £0.10 million contract for O’Rourke [Scotland] on the new Scottish Parliament Building in Edinburgh. O’Rourke [Scotland] is undertaking the concrete superstructure works package on behalf of construction manager Bovis Lend Lease.

Teijin Twaron, Tebodin and Stork ICM have concluded an agreement on the expansion of Teijin Twaron’s production facilities in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. The agreement specifies the responsibilities of the parties with respect to detailed engineering, purchasing, and construction work.

At Benicia-Martinez, HBG Constructors crews are down to 50 people from a peak of about 220. This reflects 89 percent completion of the base contract to strengthen the 10 main spans of the bridge over the Carquinez Strait, which is one of the most heavily traveled in California. The massive seismic retrofit started in June 1998.

HBG Steel structures [part of HBG Civiel] has won an order for the detail design and construction of a transformer platform for an offshore wind farm in Denmark. This wind farm, comprising 80 turbines, will be located in the North Sea more than 15 kilometres off the coast near Esbjerg.

Foundations have now been laid for HBG's latest contract at Bury College in Lancashire – a £2.1 million project for a new technology block on the town centre campus. Construction manager Ged Flanagan helped the college's acting principal Nancy Cookson lay the first foundations during a special ceremony at the site.

Doctors of the future will be able to learn abouth the work of the 21st century counterparts thanks to a time capsule buried beneath the newest building at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester. A burial ceremony was held at the £5.7 million education and research centre – a 59-week project which HBG is scheduled to complete by the autumn.

Tebodin has been commissioned by the European Union to set up a Project Preparation Facility to assist the Polish government in carrying out some estimated 800 investment projects to be funded under the Social and Economic Cohesion Fund of the European Phare Programme.

Edmund Nuttall Ltd has been awarded contracts totalling £6.2 million to undertake sludge digestion and phosphate dosing improvements across a number of sites operated by United Utilities Ltd.

Construction on this $240 million design/build project on the northern coast of South Carolina is nearing the halfway mark. Of the 25 bridges on the project, three are 100 percent complete. The rest of the bridges are under construction at this time.

Tebodin is involved in the upgrading, renovation and new construction of no fewer than 4,000 Shell stations across a large part of Europe. Tebodin has been involved in a similar operation in Central and Eastern Europe since 1997. The target was to complete 150 service stations a year over a period of five years. Now the contract has been extended to include the Benelux countries, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Asda, Britain's second largest supermarket chain, and HBG Construction share a long and successful track record in store construction and development over many years. Initially, the relationship began in Scotland, where serveral Asda supermarkets were built. This evolved until HBG Construction became one of four selected contractors to undertake Asda's UK-wide store development programme.

FCI [part of HBG Constructors, USA] is tackling the seismic upgrading of 12 bridges throughout Monterey County. The project consists of two contracts, one for $2.42 million, and the other for $4.8 million.
