Dies nachdem auch der Kanton den Businessplan zur Finanzierbarkeit des Projekts «Dreiklang» zustimmend zur Kenntnis genommen hat. Die Weichen für den Neubau sind damit gestellt.

Antarctica: Getting Ready for RRS Sir David Attenborough

19 December 2019 - A major modernisation programme at British Antarctic Survey (BAS) Rothera Research Station begins its second ‘summer season’ this month with the arrival of a 40-plus person team from BAM. Construction work on a new 74m long wharf resumes, and initial groundworks for a new science and operations building begins. The works will improve operational efficiency and ensure that BAS is fit for the future.

Frankfurt am Main, 9. Dezember 2019 - Entlastung für die Straßen und die Umwelt: Nach nur drei Jahren Bauzeit wird am 15. Dezember die S-Bahn-Anbindung des neuen Stadtteils Gateway Gardens am Frankfurter Flughafen pünktlich in Betrieb gehen. Das Gewerbegebiet mit künftig 18.000 Arbeitsplätzen in Büro- und Konferenzgebäuden, Hotels, Gastronomie und Einzelhandel ist dann mit den Linien S8 und S9 in nur noch knapp zehn Minuten vom Frankfurter Hauptbahnhof aus erreichbar. Prognosen zufolge werden dank der neuen Schienenanbindung rund 13.000 Fahrten täglich vom Auto auf die Schiene verlagert. Für das angrenzende Straßennetz wird eine Entlastung von rund 27 Prozent erwartet. Das Investitionsvolumen der S-Bahn-Anbindung Gateway Gardens beträgt 300 Millionen Euro.
